The Vice Presidency for the Arts at Stanford University was established in February 2017 to elevate the arts in the University’s priorities and lead strategic planning for the University’s arts goals. Stanford’s non-departmental arts programs fall under the auspices of the Vice President for the Arts (VPA), including Stanford Live and Bing Concert Hall, Anderson Collection at Stanford University, Cantor Arts Center, and the Institute for Diversity in the Arts. The Office of the Vice President for the Arts also manages campus-wide arts opportunities, strategic partnerships, arts grant opportunities, and student support.
Reporting to the Director of Operations and Finance, and working with other VPA senior staff, the Human Resources Director is the top strategic Human Resources advisor to leadership. He/she is responsible for building and maintaining a high-performing Human Resources program for a newly established Arts organization. The Director is also responsible for providing expert, timely and efficient service to 100 staff, including a diverse group of Arts professionals and bargaining unit employees.
The Director provides the full range of HR services from transactional to strategic for 5 distinct units. He/she works independently with unit Directors to address transactional, individual and organizational issues. The Director serves as the primary contact in all matters pertaining to VPA Human Resources, and represents VPA’s interests to all relevant internal and external constituencies.
