Inga Weiss Tribute Program

Inga Weiss dances into Athletics

Inga Weiss performed as a soloist for the legendary Mary Wigman’s modern dance company in Germany before she began teaching dance in Stanford’s Athletics Department in the sixties. During her time at Stanford, Inga brought a strong emphasis on improvisation and performance to dance instruction. By 1974, Weiss had successfully instituted the university’s first graduate degree program in dance, administered by the School of Education.
