Keith Boyle joins Art & Art History faculty

Keith Boyle, whose work is part of SFMOMA’s permanent collection, joined the Art & Art History faculty in 1962 and taught drawing and painting on campus to undergraduate and graduate students for 26 years. Boyle’s interest in color and space led to works of abstraction “unencumbered by culture, theory, and criticism,” he explains in his artist statement. His work has been shown in individual and group exhibitions at venues such as the De Young Museum, the San Jose Museum of Art, the Schneider Museum of Art in Ashland, Oregon (where he moved with his wife after his teaching career at Stanford), and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.
