Alumni reunite amid vaudevillian interludes

Although alumni reunions occurred before the 1920s, the 1923 Quad documents the first alumni reunion held on campus. During this gathering, Stanford alumni (many of whom had graduated twenty-five years prior), relished in festivities involving student arts groups. The Junior Opera, the Glee Club, the Stanford Band, and a student cabaret group presented a special performance for the alumni attendees, whereas Warren Dwight Allen directed a choral concert at the Memorial Church. The Alumni Association has since institutionalized these reunions, and organizes theater, music, dance, travel, and community service opportunities for alumni.
