Projections: A Selection of Short Films by MFA Documentary Film students and Film and Media Studies
October 7, 2019
Location: Miller Discussion Space, McMurtry Building - Map Link
The Department of Art & Art History at Stanford University presents Projections, an exhibition of work by MFA in Documentary Film students and Film and Media Studies students, on view from October 7 through November 1, 2019, in the Miller Discussion Space in the McMurtry Building. The opening event and reception will take place on Monday, October 7, 4:30-5:30 pm in the atrium of the McMurtry Building.
In the Miller Discussion Space, eight digital short documentaries by current 2nd year MFA Documentary candidates will be projected. The films span an impressive variety of styles and approaches: personal essays weave the personal and political, quiet observation leaves us unsettled, sounds and images are not what they seem, the line between simulation and reality is blurred, our sense of possibility in documentary form is expanded.
Selections from the Film and Media Studies course, Film Production 116: Script to Screen, will also be on display. Script to Screen is a hybrid screenwriting/film production course that guides students through the process of completing a 2-3 minute fiction film. Students workshop scripts for short fiction films, and then, translating script to screen, learn to creatively apply the fundamentals of film production.
Free and open to the public
On view: Monday–Friday, 9 am–5 pm (closed weekends)
Opening reception: Monday, October 7, 4:30–6 pm
