Exploring Identity Through Art: Inspired by Titus Kaphar’s Page 4 of Jefferson’s “Farm Book,”…
Because Stanford museums are currently closed, Second Sunday will be going virtual once again! As human beings, we are hard-wired to recognize other human faces and the emotions they express. What happens when you take away a person’s identity? By removing the face, the baby, and obscuring the hands, Kaphar reveals how popular culture and history have removed the identities of black people.
Museum educators will be presenting Second Sunday Live on August 9, 2020 via Zoom. Join the Second Sunday Crew in making a photomontage (similar to a collage) inspired by artist Titus Kaphar. The live half-hour interactive session begins at 11AM PDT.
You will receive access to the Zoom session by registering through the Eventbrite link. To protect privacy, the format will be a Zoom webinar and participant cameras will be turned off. Once again, we will be streaming via Facebook Live on our Cantor and Anderson channels.
