Faculty Lecture: “Who We Be: Art, Images & Race in Post-Civil Rights America”

April 5, 2016 12:30 am - 1:30 am

Location: Cantor Auditorium - Map Link

Jeff Chang and Jerome Reyes of Stanford’s Institute for Diversity in the Arts discuss Who We Be, the curricular exhibition that Chang guest-curated. The exhibition and class examine visual culture—particularly images in contemporary art, justice movements, and popular culture—to discuss social change and cultural politics in the U.S. over the past half-century. Chang and Reyes discuss the explosion of formal experimentation among artists of color in a context of both progress and backlash. Enter through the main lobby or Diekman (Rodin) Rotunda. Doors open at 5:15 pm.
