The Faces of Ruth Asawa

While she is known for her biomorphic abstract sculptures, Ruth Asawa was an artist of diverse talent in many media. The Faces of Ruth Asawa is a single-object, long-term installation of 233 ceramic face masks Asawa created of friends, family members, and fellow artists. Never exhibited in its entirety, the display of this work showcases Asawa’s range as an artist, arts advocate, and community member. At Home/On Stage: Asian American Representation in Photography and Film

East of the Pacific: Making Histories of Asian American Art
