Stanford Data Artists is a community of students, faculty, and staff transforming data into art forms: musical compositions, theater props, sculptures, living paintings, woodworking, creative writing, textiles—the works! If you work with data and you’re interested in how it can become art, or you’re interested in bringing data into your artistic practice, Stanford Data Artists is the place for you. Current members turn population information into sound scores, physicalize geological information, make glass models of complex systems, and more. Stanford Data Artists aims to facilitate collaboration, support experimentation, and provide opportunities for learning through lectures and workshops.
