Office of the Vice President for the Arts
VPA Co-Sponsorships
Purpose
The Office of the Vice President for the Arts (OVPA) occasionally co-sponsors projects/events that both align with our strategic priorities and fall outside of the scope of our other faculty grant programs.
All co-sponsorship requests must align with at least one of our strategic priorities:
- Equity, Health, and Wellbeing
- Opportunities to utilize the arts as part of a larger strategy for individual and community health and wellbeing.Â
- Placemaking and Community Building
- Integrating the arts into campus communities through creative placemaking.
- Civic Engagement
- Demonstrating the power of the arts to bring creative perspectives to discourse and imagine different ways of being.
Criteria
- Proposals must incorporate the creative arts in an intentional manner.
- Proposals should directly connect to the core priorities of your department/program.
- Funds generally cannot be used to pay Stanford affiliates. Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- All activities must be in accordance with current University travel and safety policies. For more information, visit:
Eligibility
- The following groups are eligible for co-sponsorship consideration:
- Department/Program Chairs
- Department/Program Financial Managers
- Professional Staff from campus community centers
- Individual faculty, instructors, and students (UG, co-term, graduate, professional) should explore funding through the other faculty and student grant programs.
- Prior to submitting an application, applicants are encouraged to discuss their intention to apply with their department/program financial administrator to review any department/program procedures that may impact their proposed activity.
- Awards range from $250-$1,000.
- VPA Co-Sponsorship funds should comprise 50% or less of the total project budget.
How to Apply
To be considered for a discretionary grant submit an inquiry form via Airtable:
- Name and email of project lead
- Affiliated departments/programs
- Project summary (500 words or less)
- You do not need to submit your full proposal--just a brief summary of your project, including when it will take place, its alignment with VPA priorities, and how the project will catalyze and/or sustain community on campus through the arts.
- Amount requested from OVPA
Application Timeline
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the fiscal year. Once your inquiry form is submitted, a member of our team will follow-up with you within 2-3 weeks to discuss eligibility. Funding (full or partial) is not guaranteed. Applicants may be asked to submit additional materials if their proposal is eligible for funding.
Expectations for Grant Recipients
- Grant recipients are expected to work with their department/program financial administrator to process all logistics and transactions relating to the proposed activity, and to ensure that all transactions and activities adhere to University policies.
- Grant recipients may receive partial grants. In these situations the grant recipient should work with their department/program to find additional funds for the proposed activity.
- Upon completion of the activity, grant recipients will submit a short final report. Grant recipients are encouraged to include photos (with photographer credit) from the activity as part of their report.
- If the project/activity is no longer taking place, please notify Sabrina Wilensky to discuss next steps.
