The Inaugural season, which begins January 11 with the long-awaited opening of Bing Concert Hall, offers more than 40 events through June 1. Highlights in 2013 range from renowned soloists such as cellist Yo-Yo Ma to new works commissioned and created especially for this magnificent new venue—including two chamber operas from Stanford faculty composer Jonathan Berger and a landmark collaboration between San Francisco’s Kronos Quartet and Laurie Anderson.
Faculty and Staff Day
With the Opening Weekend in high demand, there will be a special “Faculty and Staff Concert” as a way for the campus community to experience the hall. All employees are invited to attend this free lunchtime Department of Music concert on Tuesday, January 15 at 12 pm.
The performance will feature faculty artists and collaborators from the Stanford community including The Applebaum Jazz Piano Duo (Mark and Bob Applebaum), violinist Robin Sharp, mezzo-soprano Wendy Hillhouse and pianists Laura Dahl, Frederick Weldy, and Thomas Schultz.
Reserve tickets for this event on the Stanford Live website or pick them up at the Ticket Office beginning November 27 with a valid faculty/staff SUID. Limit is two tickets per employee and IDs will be required at the door.
Note that Stanford and faculty and staff receive a 20% discount on all performances.
